This blog is about my private venture into having Mr. John (Poshgoblin) Pickford doing me a small range of 28mm dwarf miniatures that will fulfill my personal need for more dark, sinister and vicious dwarfs.

Metal masters are here for quality control and approval

I've just approved the masters for the boar knights and they are now heading back to the UK for the final mouldings - but I couldn't resist building a few and take some pictures for you - so here they are:

So one last push ... :)

February releases

The Ewal Knights are still awaiting a production stage but to keep you warm the following miniatures came out hot of a new production mould - and have all been added to the "how to get some"-section

EB-01 Arnórr - Ewal Beserkr
A single piece miniature with separate head. Comes with 3 different head-options. The miniature is sculpted by John "Poshgoblin" Pickford

EDP-20 Finngálkin - Ewal Dvergr Centaur
A multi part miniature with 2 separate heads - bull's helmet and a horse visor helmet one. The miniature comes with 3 different hand weapons (mace, axe and hammer). Also included is a plain shield. The miniature has been sculpted by John "Poshgoblin" Pickford

EDX-90 Dvergr Mountaineer
A single piece miniature with a pair of skis - just because it's that kind of season up here in the North. Will do great guarding the Northern Borders of the realm. The miniature is sculpted by myself.

All 3 miniatures have been added to the "Character"-section.

Spacefarers, Pirates and Adventurers
The last piece is something rather new to me and is a Space Pirate:

The miniature is called Rana Geil and were originally sculpted for the the 2014 Frother's Sculpting Compatition: "Froth Eisley - A Hive of Froth and Villainy" by Sjoerd Trowee. The miniature has been add to this brand new section of the "how to get some":

Boar Knights greens - the command group

To finish of the Boar Knights John has build 2 command figures. A beautiful Musician and an impressive army standard bearer with the magnificent Raven banner.

And here they are:

EDK10 Boar Knight Musician

The axe hand is a seperate piece and will be interchangable with the two left hands from the main knights set.

EDK-10 - Boar Knight Musician

EDK10 Army Standard Bearer

The banner has been a rather challenging piece but I believe John nailed it. I'm so proud of the Raven Banner - will look spectacular on the battle field.

The standard bearer will also come with a smaller teamed Boar banner.

But also with an opportunity for fielding him as an army champion by giving him an impressive demon faced shield.

Boar Knights greens - the Knights with hand weapon and shield

Been taking a fair bit longer than expected but John Pickford has finalised the Ewal Dvergar Boar Knights and the prototypes are now ready for another mastermoulding proces and then they can enter the production stage.

Here's a small introduction of what to expect.

First the mounts themselves - the 3 new alternative boar poses

Bringing it to a full set of 5 different poses

And then the riders - the Ewal Dvergar Knights - and again a multi-parted project with lots of options for different builds. We've build these 4 different body poses:

And they will come with the choice of 6 heads, 7 hands and probably 4 or 5 shields

Only one of the two metal sallets (second and third from left) will go into this set

7 right hands - 2 left hands

The face shield will be saved for another project
- and only one of the stars will become available with this one.

Will show you builds when I have some masters in my hand.

Boar Knights prototypes

Early March, I received the dolls for the planned Boar Knights John Pickford has been doing for me - and off they went for mastering, straight away.

I really hate sending these original greens out for mastering.

Firstly, they are in the postal limbo. I sent them by registered parcel post, of course - but track and trace doesn't really tell you their exact location do they? - nor the state they are in. What's wrong with GPS tracing and video surveillance? - lol. But they arrived safely at the caster after 10 days or so, of course (like always).

Secondly, all the waiting for moulding and casting. Knowing they are just laying on some shelve, waiting - it's killing me :-)

The few days I had them in my possession, they where guarded night and day. Doesn't think other professionals treasure them just as much as I do :-) ... unfortunately.

But this time it has been one long hard wait. I'm using a UK based casting service. The usual lead time for master moulding is about 3 weeks, but once again my job is conflicting with The South London Warlords Salute Show. Cause yet again, Europe's biggest gaming show has put pressure on most casting companies and they have build up a rather large backlog of orders. So I had to sit, over here, wait .... patiently.

But on Friday the 13th of May (now who said it was an unlucky day?) I took delivery of a nice box of masters. So I took out a few and build them for you to see what we have been working on.

Here they are - the Boar Knight Prototypes

The masters are to be returned to John for finishing them. John has been booked and his schedule ain't looking "crazy", I'm told. His work will involve making converting the boars into another 2 poses, body conversions for building 4 different knight bodies, 4 more heads, 7 weapon hands, new shields and maybe some other bits and pieces.

Fingers crossed, it till be a swift job. Could be done by summertime. Stay tuned.

Bird Shaman painted by Iain Aitken

Top chum, Iain Aitken, has tried out the Ewal Dvergr Bird Shaman and the end result is extraordinary - luckily, he has allowed me sharing his fantastic brush work in here, too - for all to see.

Painted Puck's Dance and variant Puck

The Puck's Dance diorama piece has now been painted. Also painted is the variant Puck.

Puck comes with an additional head. The variant is a simple head cut as Puck is a single-piece cast and the existing head needs to come off. Then a the alternative one was pinned back on.

You can find Puck in the Old Bag section - here.
